What are Dental Dams
Originally used by, you guessed it, dentists to create an isolation zone during dental work, dental dams are very thin flexible pieces of latex, or sometimes non-porous and non-transmissible non-latex material in a rectangular shape. They are used to protect against direct mouth-to-genital or mouth-to-anus contact during oral sex.
How to Use a Dental Dam
Similar to a condom you simply place the dam over whichever part of your partner you intend to stimulate with your mouth. For example, if you were going to rim your girl or boyfriend you would just place the sheet over their anal area and entrance. This provides a barrier of protection between the givers mouth and the recipients genital regions.
Where to Get One
In a pinch you can simply make your own dental dam by snipping the end of a condom and cutting up on side allowing you to open it up into a flat piece of latex. If you have some time to prepare there is a wide variety of dental dams available online that are only slightly larger than a condom pack. Just like with condoms dental dams come in a verity of flavors and even in non-latex materials for those with allergies.
