Happy Because of Sex: The Science
A study published in Personality and Social Psychology, used a focus group of 335 random people involved in romantic relationships. They were surveyed on their sexual frequency, life satisfaction, and their “affectionate touch frequency,” (kisses, and post sex cuddles etc.)
It was found that people who had frequent sex and had high “affectionate touch frequency” were those who felt the best about life in general, and reported being the happiest.
While the sex was a pretty big factor researchers found that the affectionate contact was actually more responsible for the blissed out state.
“Sex seems not only beneficial because of its physiological or hedonic effects, but because it promotes a stronger and more positive connection with the partner,” says researcher Anik Debrot, suggesting sex itself makes you feel awesome, but the romantic cuddles afterwards is the cherry on top.
Another study consisted of 74 couples recruited from the San Francisco area. Frequency in sex and touch were both linked to feeling good about life, but after some number crunching, the researchers in this study also declared that it was the affection that was most responsible for increased happiness and contentment.

Mutual sexual absorption has a way of bonding people, so if you need to add a little happiness to your holidays then go for a romp in the sack, and make sure to follow it up with some post orgasm cuddling. The emotional bonding of both the sex and the physical contact will release all those happy oxytocin hormones to hold you over until the New Year.
