It’s Saturday and that means taking a look at some aspects of sex and sexuality that some people may find a bit strange. Knowledge is the key to understanding after all. By now most of us are familiar with asexuality, but did you know some people are actually aromantic? That’s right, for some people falling in love just isn’t even a desirable goal. If you’ve never even heard that word before don’t worry, we’ve got all you need to know!
What is an aromantic

Aromantic is a term that’s typically used to describe someone who experiences little to no romantic attraction. Not all asexual people are also aromantic, but according to at least one study done by the University of British Columbia in Vancouver about 27% or respondants who where asexual where also aromantic. Being aromantic is different than being asexual even though the two can and do overlap.
What’s the difference
Both terms deal with attraction. But the difference is that aromanticism is about the romantic kind, while people who identify as asexual don’t experience sexual attraction. The main difference between the two is while asexuals do not have sex, aromatics do, however it isn’t an emotionally connected coupling, its just sex. Most aromantics have never loved anyone in a romantic capacity, their love is and remains platonic. They choose their partners from a logical pleasure thought process instead of a butterflies in your stomach fireworks passion point of view.
Aromantic Relationships

Just because someone is not romantically attracted to another person, does not they do not have relationships. Many Aromantics do enter into relationships with people they are sexually attracted to. They have commitment and companionship and sexual interactions that work for them without the euphoric “love” and more of a familial or friend love. everybody who identifies as aromantic experiences aromanticism differently. If you meet an aromantic be sure to ask them what that means for them!
We will see you next Saturday for more strange sex adventures!
