Around here Saturdays are for opening up our minds to the wilder sides of sex and sexuality. If you have been holding in your kinks then this week is for you! We love all things kinky around here, and you should too, however, if you are with a new partner and holding back your kinks because you’re not sure how to talk about it, we are here to help!

We spend a lot of time either conforming or desperately fighting off societal pressure to be the best person we can be. That doesn’t mean if you’re a little freaky you aren’t worthy of a safe healthy fulfilling relationship. That said, let’s talk about the importance of open communication in healthy relationships. A little talk about sex isn’t going to scare the right partner off. If your new partner is uncomfortable with some of the things you want to do in bed, they should be able to talk to you about that. Especially in a kink embracing relationship, communication is key to safe play and maintained informed consent.
Sex is a place to explore power dynamics, comfort levels, and pleasure in unusual, interesting, and safe ways. You don’t need to pull out a contract on your first night together, take things at a pace you are both comfortable with, but eventually you will need to talk about each other’s limits and boundaries. Be as clear and concise with each other as possible when you do. Be sure to also ask your partner or partners if they have any kinks or sexual desires that they would also like to incorporate into the sexual relationship.
While you might begin with one conversation, expect and encourage several conversations and feedback as you explore new sexual curiosities and kinks. Let your freak flag fly, you’ll be happier for it in the long run. We will see you next Saturday for more strange sex adventures!
