It's been a long week, Christmas back in Feb? Since then we've been trapped in a fire tower, trapped in an igloo by wolves, been in an emergency landing in a chopper and spent the night in a cave where a cougar tried to have us for dinner, been on a cross country excursion by steam locomotive, but finally we're at the New Year's Eve party. Amy and I sneak away about 1am for our own party back in our cabin. Hard to believe in a couple days we'll be going home. But just for a few days then it's off to the smokies with Jack and Kelly for training with the new staff.

Another amazing night with the amazing Amy. I arranged a surprise for us, a trip by horse drawn sleigh back to the ridge where we watched the sunset once before. I even had the driver take a different route so as not to tip her off. I'd had the fire lit in the rustic shelter and some hotdogs and popcorn left in a cooler just outside the door. It was plenty warm inside and we immediate removed our winter clothing. we laid out cushions and blankets from a small cabinet and cuddle by the fire. we roasted and ate our hotdogs just before sunset then made popcorn to eat while we cuddled and watched the sunset. After sunset we had even more fun. But I'm not one to kiss and tell. You just had to be there.

Everyone was having such an incredible time camping in the yard around the lodge they decided to extend it another day in spite of slightly colder temperatures and light snow forecast. We decide on the BBQ chicken for lunch so while it's cooking we have time to kill. We decide to get into our tarp tent and get out of the cold. Again our design has kept it quite warm inside. While we can't get fully naked, we can undress some. There are people around so we have to settle for touching, but touching too is very good, very important, really. So we give each other much pleasure that way.

Today a little lesson in survival under controlled conditions. The yard at the lodge has been marked off into small campsites with only 100' between them. Everything needed has been provided on the campsite but it is up to each couple to figure out how to utilize the supplies. They need a windbreak, shelter and a fire. The rangers check everyone's work to make sure they have adequate shelter. It's only 20 degrees out and will get colder as the sun sets. Lunch is provided in the form of custom prepared kits with everything we need to prepare our chosen recipe. Dinner consists of Hotdogs, buns and condiments. With marshmallows and popcorn for later. The rangers are doing this as well but have to work between times of helping others. In the evening they gather in groups at their campsites which are distributed through out the crowd. They have their guitars, some have a harmonica and they play and sing way into the night. After almost everyone is asleep we slip into our "bed" and cuddle while we listen. Then we take time for a little naughtiness. We have to be very quite as there are some people still awake.

We awoke the next morning to find we'd had a visitor during the night, a large cat. It had come unusually close to the fires and Jack suspected he was after something. He finally admitted that he suspected it was the cat that had cornered me in the cave. We had wondered into his new territory and he recognized our scents. He wasn't hunting for food, he was out for revenge. We skipped breakfast and just had some jerky from the emergency kit. Jack felt we should put some distance behind us, and from that cat before we worried about eating. Eventually we found a safe place to stop where we were high up and could see all around us. Then we road on. I had a feeling Jack knew more than he was saying. About 30 minutes later, the cat showed up, in front of us. Jack & Kelly kept their shotguns trained on him while Jacked radioed the lodge for help. Soon a chopper was there to shoot the cat with a tranquilizer and then move the cat far away. We rode on to the lodge where we had lunch and then each other for desert in our fort.

We arrive at the airport and Jack has a surprise waiting. 2 snowmobiles. One for him and Kelly and one for Amy and I. Everything goes well on the ride to the lodge but we're running a little slower than planned. When we reach a clearing at dusk we decide it would be best to camp there than to ride on in the dark. Fortunately, Jack being a former forest ranger is well prepared. The pack on the snowmobiles have everything we'll need. Tarps for shelter, food, blankets (not the nice, thick warm ones, but enough to keep the cold off. The fires will keep us warm, even a hatchet to aid in collecting firewood. After dinner and some stories from Jack about his days in the forest service, we all turn in for the night. Jack has built 3 fires. One close to use for warmth and 1 at each side of our camp area, just to keep, as Jack put it, anything out there, out there a little further. It also lit up a bigger area so nothing could sneak up on us After Jack and Kelly were asleep, Amy and I decide to have some naughty time for us. Though we had to be very quiet because only a tarp separated us from them.

We're on the nearly new plane headed back to the lodge. Even by jet the trip takes nearly 2 hours. Plenty of time to check out the staff quarters and renew our membership in the mile high club. Time was short but Amy makes every nanosecond count.
